Bhubaneswar: Reliance Jio retained its top position with the highest average 4G download speed of 24.1 megabit per second (Mbps) among 4G service providers in November, according to the latest data published by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
Jio network recorded around 10 per cent rise in average 4G download speed with 24.1 Mbps in November while average 4G download speed on VI and Airtel networks in the month were 17 Mbps and 13.9 Mbps, respectively. Average 4G download speed of Jio was 10.2 Mbps higher that Airtel and 7.1 Mbps higher than VI, in November.
In terms of 4G data upload speed in November, VI continued to lead with average 4G upload speed of 8 Mbps. Jio also recorded its five-month high average upload speed of 7.1 Mbps in November, while Airtel recorded 5.6 Mbps average upload speed in the same month.
It is worth mentioning here that the download speed helps consumers to access content from the internet, while upload speed helps them send data or share pictures or videos with their contacts.
The average speed is computed by TRAI based on the data it collects across India with the help of its MySpeed application on a real-time basis.
As per the data published on MySpeed portal of TRAI, in Odisha, Jio continues to march ahead with highest 38.1 Mbps average 4G download speed, followed by VI with 10.3 Mbps and Airtel with 8.9 Mbps average download speed. In terms of average 4G upload speed in the state, VI recorded 9.3 Mbps, followed by Jio with 8.1 Mbps and Airtel with 3.1 Mbps.
