Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has said that he had a big responsibility and he would take forward legacy left behind by late Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
Speaking to reporters after taking oath of office and secrecy on Monday night, the Chief Minister, an MLA from Sanquelim constituency, said responsibility was to be taken and alliance partners would be taken along.
He said though he would not be able to do work as much as done by former Chief Minister Late Manohar Parrikar but he would make efforts to finish the incomplete work as much as possible.
Dr Sawant was appointed Chief Minister of the state on Monday after day-long deleberations by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national leaders with alliance partners Goa Forward Party (GFP) and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP).
Dr Sawant’s wife Sulakshana Sawant, who looked cheerful during the oath taking ceremony at Raj Bhavan, expressed mixed emotions over elevation of her husband.
Dr Sawant was Chairman of Goa Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) in the previous government which was headed by partly Manohar Parrikar and partly by Laxmikant Parsekar.
After Parrikar returned to state politics in 2017 and became chief minister of the state, Dr Sawant was elected as Speaker of the State Assembly. (UNI)
