Purvottar Aadi Mahotsav: Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram, inaugurated the “Purvottar Aadi Mahotsav,” a National Tribal Festival, today at the Veterinary College Playground in Guwahati. The festival aims to celebrate, preserve, and promote tribal crafts, culture, cuisine, and commerce. Local artists from the Northeastern region and other states of India will showcase and sell products, including handmade items and crafts, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of tribal communities.
The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, Durga Das Uikey, Assam Minister Ranoj Pegu, and other dignitaries. In his speech, Union Minister Jual Oram highlighted the various developmental initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. Meanwhile, Union MoS Durga Das Uikey praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, highlighting that under his guidance, the development of tribal communities across the country has accelerated. Organised by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the festival will run until November 15, 2024. Meanwhile, Jual Oram also informed that the ‘Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas’ will be celebrated on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Birsa Munda.
