Cognizant CEO Meets CM: In a significant development for Odisha’s IT sector, Cognizant CEO Shri Ravi Kumar today met Odisha Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi at Janata Maidan, during the ongoing Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebrations. The meeting focused on the potential expansion of Cognizant’s presence in the state, with particular emphasis on the development of a new campus in Bhubaneswar, which is poised to become the company’s largest centre in India.
During the discussion, both leaders shared their vision for the future growth of the IT sector in Odisha. Shri Kumar expressed his satisfaction with the progress of Cognizant’s existing centre in Bhubaneswar, highlighting its impressive growth trajectory. He also expressed confidence that the centre’s expansion would continue to accelerate, with plans to make it the largest in India within the next five years.
In response, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi extended his full support to the initiative, assuring the CEO that the Odisha government would be pleased to allocate land within Bhubaneswar city for the development of Cognizant’s new campus. The CM emphasized the government’s commitment to providing all necessary assistance to ensure that the facility becomes the company’s biggest campus in India.
Additionally, the CM sought the cooperation of Shri Ravi Kumar in attracting further investments in the IT and ITeS sectors in Odisha, which is expected to boost the state’s economy and create more employment opportunities. In response, the Cognizant CEO expressed his willingness to support the state government’s efforts, reaffirming his commitment to fostering growth in the state’s IT sector.
The meeting also coincided with the recognition of Shri Ravi Kumar, who was conferred the prestigious Pravasi Bhartiya Samman today. The Chief Minister took the opportunity to congratulate the CEO for his accomplishments and for receiving the honor, which celebrates the remarkable contributions of Indian diaspora leaders.
Both leaders expressed optimism about the growing potential of Odisha’s IT ecosystem and the role that Cognizant can play in further shaping the state’s future as a key hub for technology and innovation.
