Parakram Diwas: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation via video message on Parakram Diwas, commemorating the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Extending greetings, he highlighted Netaji’s unwavering dedication to India’s independence and his legacy of resilience and unity.
PM Modi lauded Odisha for hosting grand celebrations in Cuttack, Netaji’s birthplace, which included an exhibition, artistic depictions of his life, and a curated collection of books about him. He expressed confidence that these efforts would inspire the youth and energize “Meri Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat).”
The Prime Minister underlined Netaji’s goal of “Azad Hind” and his decision to forgo a comfortable life to lead India’s struggle for freedom. He urged citizens to emulate Netaji’s courage by stepping out of their comfort zones to build a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India).
He highlighted the formation of Azad Hind Fauj, emphasizing its unity despite regional and linguistic diversity, and drew parallels to the unity needed for India’s growth today. PM Modi also warned against forces that could disrupt national unity and stressed the importance of preserving India’s heritage while pursuing excellence.
Recounting initiatives to honor Netaji, such as establishing a museum at the Red Fort, instituting the Subhas Chandra Bose Disaster Management Awards, and celebrating Parakram Diwas annually, PM Modi underscored the government’s commitment to his legacy.
The Prime Minister reflected on India’s progress over the past decade, including lifting 25 crore people out of poverty, building modern infrastructure, and strengthening the military. He expressed optimism about India becoming the world’s third-largest economy soon.
