Odisha Vigilance on Thursday trapped Tushar Kant Roy, an Executive Engineer of Tata Power Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL), while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 from a contractor.
According to officials, Roy had demanded the bribe for facilitating the installation of an electrical substation to provide power supply to an apartment in Bhubaneswar. Acting on a complaint, Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught him red-handed while taking the money.
Following the arrest, simultaneous searches were carried out at his office and residence. During the operation, Vigilance recovered ₹9,53,200 in cash and gold ornaments from his possession. Officials said further searches are underway to trace additional assets.
The engineer has been detained, and legal proceedings have been initiated. Vigilance officials added that a detailed inquiry will ascertain the extent of disproportionate assets, if any, held by him.
