Bhubaneswar: Senior IAS officer Sanjay Kumar Singh is seeking an inter-state transfer from Odisha to his home state of Bihar. He has submitted an application to the Central Government, following which the Centre sent a letter to the Odisha Government on October 22, seeking information about any pending vigilance or other cases against him.
The communication is part of the standard procedure followed by the Central Government when an IAS officer applies for an inter-state transfer. His transfer to Bihar will proceed after the Odisha Government grants its approval.
Sanjay Kumar Singh, a 1997-batch IAS officer, currently serves as the Principal Secretary of the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department and the Works Department in the Odisha Government.
He is regarded as an experienced and capable administrator. Before serving in Odisha, Singh worked in Bihar for several years, holding key positions, including District Magistrate of Patna and Gaya and Special Secretary to the Chief Minister of Bihar.
During his tenure in Odisha, Singh has held several important administrative positions. These include Secretary of the Rural Development Department, Information and Public Relations Department, and Skill Development and Technical Education Department.
He has also served as Commissioner of Commercial Taxes and GST, Commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), and Vice-Chairman of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA).
His proposed transfer to Bihar is now subject to the necessary clearances and approval from the Odisha Government.
