PM Modi Visits to Uzbekistan: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday embarked on a four-day visit to Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic from August 29 to September 1, 2026, aimed at strengthening India’s strategic partnerships and cooperation with Central Asian countries.
At the invitation of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, PM Modi will undertake a State Visit to Tashkent on August 29-30. During his visit, he is expected to hold discussions with President Mirziyoyev on further strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, digital connectivity, defence and energy.
The Prime Minister will also visit the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, highlighting the close cultural and people-to-people ties between India and Uzbekistan.
From Tashkent, PM Modi will travel to Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, at the invitation of President Sadyr Zhaparov, to participate in the 26th Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), which marks 25 years of the organisation.
India has been an active member of the SCO since 2017. At the summit, PM Modi will present India’s vision for the region based on Security, Connectivity and Opportunity, while stressing the need for a region free from terrorism, separatism and extremism.
During his Bishkek visit, PM Modi will also meet President Zhaparov and other SCO leaders and attend the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games.
The Prime Minister said the visit would help strengthen India’s strategic partnerships in Central Asia, deepen civilisational ties and advance the shared goals of peace, stability and prosperity.
