The Election Commission of India (ECI) today issued the notification for the fourth phase Lok Sabha polls. The State Election Commission also announced the schedule for the fourth phase Assembly polls that are to be held in Odisha simultaneously along with Lok Sabha polls.
According to the schedule released by the Commissions, polling will be held for six parliamentary constituencies of the state and respective assembly constituencies on April 29.
The last date of filing nomination is April 9 while the nominations will be scrutinized on April 10. Nominees will be allowed to withdraw their candidature by April 12. Polling will take place on April 29 and results will be announced on May 23.
The six Lok Sabha constituencies of the state scheduled to go to polls in the fourth phase are: Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur.
Similarly, the assembly constituencies going to the polls in this phase are: Jashipur, Saraskana, Rairangpur, Bangriposi, Udala, Badasahi, Baripada, Morada, Jaleswar, Bhograi, Basta, Balasore, Remuna, Nilgiri, Soro, Simulia, Bhandaripokhari, Bhadrak, Basudevpur, Dhamnagar, Chandbali, Binjharpur, Bari, Barachana, Dharmasala, Jajpur, Korei, Sukinda, Niali, Salipur, Mahanga, Patkura, Kendrapara, Aul, Rajanagar, Mahakalapada, Paradeep, Tirtol, Balikuda-Erasama, Jagatsinghpur, Kakatpur and Nimapara.
It may be mentioned here that the state will go to polls in four phases starting April 11. Polls for the Lok Sabha’s 543 elected seats are being held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19. The counting of votes will be conducted on 23 May, and on the same day the results will be declared.
