As many as 60,03 707 voters are scheduled to exercise their franchise in 7233 booths to elect their representatives for four Lok Sabha and 28 Assembly seats going to polls on April 11 next in the first phase of election in Odisha.
Chief Electoral office sources here said the voters included 29,72,925 male, 30,30,222 female and 560 people belonged to third gender.
Elections to Four Lok Sabha seats—Kalahandi, Nabarangapur, Berhampur, Koraput and 28 Assembly seats coming under these Lok Sabha seats will be held on April 11 next.
While as many as 26 candidates are in the fray to contest for the four Lok Sabha seats,191 candidates will try their luck for 28 Assembly seats.
Chief Electoral Office sources here said out of the 26 candidates for Lok Sabha ,24 are men and two women.
About 12 of the 26 candidates are from National political parties, four from state parties, three are Independents and seven belonged to other political parties.
Meanwhile, 18 candidates- 17 for Assembly and one candidate for Lok Sabha today filed their nominations for the fourth phase of election to be held on April 29.next.
So far 49 candidates have filed their nominations for Assembly and five for Lok Sabha seats going to polls in the fourth phase.
Filing of nomination for the fourth phase of election will continue till April 9 and scrutiny will be held on April 10. April 12 has been fixed as the last date for the withdrawal of candidature.
Elections to six Lok Sabha—Mayurbhanja, Blasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and 42 Assembly seats under these will be held on April 29 next. (UNI)
