Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday filed his nomination from the Lucknow parliamentary seat here.
Deputy Chief Ministers- Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma– and senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra were also present with him.
Before filing his papers, Mishra paid his obeisance at the famous Hanuman Setu temple.
The Union Home Minister also held a grand road show in a show of strength where a large number of BJP workers were also present.
Singh then reached the Collectorate and filed his nomination.
Interestingly, the Opposition is yet to announce a candidate opposite Singh.
The last date to file nomination from here is April 18.
Singh had earlier contested from Lucknow in 2014 and won a decisive mandate against then Congress candidate Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who later joined the BJP.
Lucknow seat is considered to be the stronghold of the BJP which the party has retained since 1991.
Lucknow goes to polls in the fifth phase and votes will be cast here on May 6. (UNI)
