At least six Taliban militants were killed while nine others arrested after Afghan army commandos targeted a Taliban hideout in Kunduz province, Afghan ministry of defence said on today.
“Personnel of Afghan national army special operations corps conducted the raid in Kakar village on outskirts of provincial capital Kunduz city. They received hostile fire. The security force returned fire and in the ensuing firefight six enemy combatants were killed,” the ministry said in a statement.
One vehicle, eight rounds of rockets and eight landmines were also destroyed in the restive province, the statement said.
The security forces have not suffered any casualty in the stand-off.
The Taliban frequently starts the offensive in spring as the season is locally branded as the fighting time of the year.
Earlier on Tuesday, in neighboring Takhar province, militants stormed an Afghan Border Force camp in Chah Ab district and clashes were still continuing, according to the statement. (UNI)
