A day after Congress president Rahul Gandhi stressed the need for an alliance between the secular forces to defeat the BJP in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, the Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday expressed it’s willingness for a tie-up with Congress and it has authorised Sanjay Singh for talks.
Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Sisodia said,’AAP has authorised Sanjay Singh to talk to the Congress. Rahul Ji should also authorise someone from the Congress who could sit with the “AAP” to formulate a strategy to defeat the BJP on all 18 (Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh) seats.’
On Monday, Mr Gandhi had said, ‘An alliance between the Congress & AAP in Delhi would mean the rout of the BJP. The Congress is willing to give up 4 Delhi seats to the AAP to ensure this. But, Mr Kejriwal has done yet another U turn! Our doors are still open, but the clock is running out #AbAAPkiBaari.’
Stressing the need for the alliance, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh referred to BJP leader Pankaja Munde’s statement where she said, ‘If BJP comes to power again, we will change constitution’.
Replying to Ms Munde’s statement, Mr Singh said, ‘This is the danger we are thinking of, that not Congress but Narendra Modi-Amit Shah’s duo is a major crisis for the country’. (UNI)
