At least eight people were killed and 44 others injured when a passenger coach overturned in Pakistan’s southern Sindh province on Friday morning, local Urdu TV channels reported.
According to the reports, the passenger bus overturned due to over-speeding in the Morjhar area of Badin, a district in Sindh province.
The ill-fated coach was heading towards Sindh provincial capital of Karachi from lslamkot town of the province when the fatal accident took place.
Police and rescue teams, after getting the information about the appalling road crash, reached the spot and shifted bodies and the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital, where condition of at least 10 persons is said to be critical.
Earlier on Tuesday, at least 14 people including women and children were killed in a collision between a passenger van and a truck on National Highway in Mastung district of southwest Balochistan province.
According to official data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, around 9,000 road accidents are reported every year since 2011 in the country, killing more than 4,500 people on average annually. (UNI)
