The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice to lawyer Utsav Bains, who claimed that there is a larger conspiracy involved to malign Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi, by way of asking him to offer bribe.
“We are issuing notice to lawyer Utsav Bains. He has to personally appear before us tomorrow,” a bench of the top court of the country, headed by Justice Arun Mishra, said here.
During the course of the hearing, lawyer Bains was absent in the courtroom, for which the SC had to issue notice to him for his personal appearance.
The Court was mired in the controversy recently, as there was an allegation of sexual harassment by a former staff of the CJ against him.
Lawyer Bains claimed that there is a larger conspiracy to malign the CJI, as he was offered bribe to frame him.
The apex court will hear on Wednesday, the suo motu proceedings initiated by it on a ‘frivolous’ complaint of sexual harassment by a former court staff against CJI.
