Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday paid tribute to DMK patriarch and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M Karunanidhi, on his 95 birth anniversary.
“Remembering Kalaignar Karunanidhi on his birth anniversary. A true leader of the glorious Tamil people, whose memory will never fade away”, Mr Gandhi tweeted.
Karunanidhi, Tamil Nadu’s longest serving Chief Minister passed away on August 2018 after prolonged illness at the age of 94.
Born on June 3, 1924 Late Karunanidhi was Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for almost two decades over five terms.
Earlier in the day MK Stalin, Karunanidhi’s son and DMK president, and party workers paid homage to the late leader.
In the recently held Lok Sabha polls, Congress had bagged eight seats in Tamil Nadu after it contested as part of the DMK alliance.
