Contraband Yuba tablets seized at Tripura border

Acting on a tip-off, BSF troops deployed on Salpukur Border Outpost under Sonamura police station of Sepahijala district yesterday seized a huge quantity of contraband Yuba tablet while proceeding for smuggling out to Bangladesh.
BSF sources said the jawans have intercepted an auto rickshaw on its way from Sonamura to Baspokar village located close to wire fencing along Indo-Bangladesh border. The jawans when stopped the vehicle for routine search, driver of the auto Anwar Hossain of Brahampur village of Sonamura however, managed to flee from the spot taking advantages of the cluster of houses on both sides of the road.
Police have been continuing the search of Anwar following the case registered by BSF.
Meanwhile, during a search in the auto, BSF troops recovered as many as 5,800 Yaba tablets worth Rs 2900 from the vehicle. The consignment of Yaba was concealed under driver seat. Seizure of Yaba Tablets from an area of responsibility of Salpukur border outpost was the third largest consignment of Yaba Tablets seized by the BSF in the area this year.
On earlier occasions, on April 6, BSF troops had seized 28,000 Yaba Tablets worth of Rs 10.40 lakh from N C Nagar area and on May 13, BSF troops have also seized 17,000 Yaba Tablets worth Rs 8.5 lakh from the same locality.
