Veteran Tripura CPI (M) woman leader passes away

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb condoled over the demise of Tripura CPI (M)’s legendary woman leader and founder member of ‘Ganatantrik Nari Samity’.
Late Mangaleshwari was the wife of former chief minister and legendary tribal leader Dasharath Deb and was a former member of CPI (M)’s state committee.
The deceased Mangaleshwari Debbarma breathed her last at 95 years from old age ailments. She is survived by her two daughters and a son. She had lost another son three years ago. The forest and tribal welfare minister Mevar Kr Jamatia paid respect to her house in the last rite.
Mangaleshwari Debbarma had joined the party shortly after her marriage with Dasharath Deb in the fifties and fought for peoples rights alongside her illustrious husband. She also hailed from Khowai subdivision and helped in strengthening the party’s base in the subdivision.
Mangaleshwari was promoted to the CPI (M) state committee in the late seventies and continued in her position until she was incapacitated by illness following the death of her husband.
Mangaleshwari’s death has cast a pall of gloom and shock all over the state and the CPI (M) party has decided that the party flag in all offices will fly at half mast for three days all over the state. Her death brings to an end the brightest possible era in the communist party’s politics and organization in Tripura.
