Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb assured all-out support for continuing his future education to differently able Pralay Dey of Udaipur Matabari High School who scored a brilliant result in Madhyamik exam this year by writing the answer script by legs.
“My confidence in the people of Tripura has increased in manifolds after meeting Pralay. He made us proud and become an inspiration of lakhs of the students across the country by scoring 69 per cent marks including letter marks in two subjects in board exam. Though he wrote the exam by legs but did not take any favour from the examiners not even asking for additional time,” Deb said.
He pointed out that Pralay proved it once again if anyone possesses talent no adverse can prevent success. Since the beginning of his education, Pralay used his legs to write exam papers and beheld secured the first position and there was no difference in Madhyamik exam under Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE).
Pralay was not born with the differently able feature but in childhood, both of his hands could not be developed properly because of malnutrition. Pralay’s father is a daily wage earner and mother is a casual worker of Integrated Child Development Project (ICDS). There were a number of odds posed threat to the family to stop Pralay’s education but his strong will did not allow, said Kamal Krishna Dey, a teacher of his school.
“The teachers have supported him with study materials and guidance but we were worried about how he can write a board exam by legs in three hours, as his friends will write by hand. There was confusion whether the evaluators could read the scripts properly though it was quite legible. Finally, Pralay beats all the predicaments and uncertainty and he will do wonder in future,” Dey underlined.
The Chief Minister felicitated Pralay at his residence yesterday and declared all the support from the part of the government and he told media, “The state government would provide him scholarships so that he could pursue his higher education without facing any financial constraints besides, Dibyang allowance. Other than this more support we can extend, obliviously we shall do.”
