Bloodshed continued dogging Bengal unabated with no sign of any let-up as one after another political killings have become almost a regular phenomenon in the state, and in a vehement protest of which the saffron brigade on Wednesday marched towards the Police headquarters of Lalbazar in the city.
After Purulia, Naihati, Kankinara, Sandeshkhali and Uluberia, this time it’s Malda as BJP workker Ashit Singha, who has been missing
since Sunday last, was today found murdered near his home in the district and his face was defaced with acid.
Resident of Jadupur under English Bazar Ashit Singha’s mutilated body was found early today nearly 300 yards from his house. His body was covered with plastic and face burnt with acid, police investigating the crime said.
Local BJP leaders charged the TMC with the killing of Ashit Singha, who was active with the saffron brigade.
Meanwhile, the city life virtually came to a standstill as thousands of BJP supporters and worers marched towards Lalbazar this noon in protest against the deteriorating law and order situation across the state.
Lalbazar turned into a fortress with over 3,000 uniformed men and women, who have made walls
around police headquarters.
Meanwhile, few women, who had sneaked into the police barricades and shouted slogan ”Jay Sri Ram’ in front of Lalbazar main gate, were taken inside Lalbazar.
The main march started from Wellington Square in Central Kolkata.
Police also stationed water cannons at different avenues and were watching the rally though drones.
