Privately owned Sharda University has launched ‘#WaterForLife’ campaign with an aim to raise awareness about water scarcity.
As a part of the project, Postgraduate student Rohan Singh embarked on a bicycle journey covering around 5500 kms from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
Singh, whose journey was flagged off from Indoor Stadium, Srinagar by Dr Haseeb Moughal, SSP, Srinagar Police on Saturday, will cover 12 states and culminate at Kanyakumari in two-three months.
“The focus of the campaign is to identify the issues leading to scarcity of clean and safe drinking water and other water related issues affecting livestock, farming, businesses, livelihood and depleting groundwater level among others. The findings of the project will be made into a documentary which will be India’s first Video based research report on Water related issues, findings and solutions,” said University Executive Director Prashant Gupta in a statement on Monday.
The student will be cycling through 12 states– Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Bangalore and Kerala.
