An Assistant Professor at Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT), also known as IIIT-Basar, in Nirmal district, was sacked from service on Sunday on charges of demanding bribe from some students appearing for Supplementary exams to give them qualifying marks and awarding extra marks.
An Internal Committee was constituted by Varsity authorities to inquire into the incident following complaints received from some students against the Assistant Professor Varala.
During the inquiry, the Committee found that the Assistant Professor, who teach Chemistry, had allegedly took money from the students to give qualifiying marks.
Following this, his services have been terminated by the Varsity authorities.
Based on a complaint by the RGUKT Administrative Officer earlier, a case was registered against Assistant Professor under IPC sections 409 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
Varala was accused of demanding money from some students who were appearing for their backlog subjects to give qualifying marks and awarding extra marks in the supplementary examination.
