Russian tourists topped the list of foreign tourists visiting coastal state of Goa in 2018, according to a reply submitted in the Goa Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.
According to a written reply given by Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar in response to a question tabled by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Glenn Ticlo and Congress MLA Pratapsingh Rane, while in 2018 percentage of foreign tourists visiting the state was 35.72, which was followed by tourists from UK (31.54 %), Ukrain 5.01 per cent, Germany 2.08 per cent, USA 2.75 per cent, among others.
Percentage of tourists visiting the state from other countries, which included Nepal, Singapore, Hungary, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, Seoul, Polland and Khazakistan, stood at 12.
While 70,81,559 domestic tourists visited the state in 2018, 9,33,841 foreign tourists, including those who came by chartered flights, visited the state in the year.
Total number of tourists visiting the state last year stood at 80,15,400.
