Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha leader and MP Derek O’Brien, also the publisher of West Bengal ruling party’s mouthpiece “Jago Bangla”, has been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation ( CBI) to appear early next month. Brien, also chief spokesman of the Trinamool Congress, in his Twitter account said ” Jago Bangla is Trinamool’s official newspaper.

The Rajya Sabha MP, also a spokesperson of West Bengal’s ruling party, has been asked to appear before a CBI team in the first week of August. Sources said the central investigating agency is seeking information regarding the funds of the ” Jago Bangla” , a Bengali daily run by the ruling TMC.
Sources said, Brien has been asked to appear before the CBI officials on August 1,2019.
The CBI had quizzed TMC general secretary Subrata Bakshi over three and half hours at its Salt Lake office on December 10, 2018.
