US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed bilateral trade during their recent phone call, media have reported, citing the White House.
The Kremlin said late on Wednesday, that the two leaders held a telephone conversation at the initiative of the United States. During the call, Trump offered the US help in coping with wildfires in Russia’s Siberia, while Putin considered the offer as a sign of the potential restoration of bilateral relations.
According to The Hill, citing the White House, during the call, Trump also “expressed concern over the vast wildfires afflicting Siberia.”
The Kremlin has said that Putin told Trump Russia would use the United States’ offer in case help was necessary.
Siberia and other areas in Russia are ravaged by wildfires, with the state of emergency imposed in five regions. The wildfires have spread across 6.7 million acres, which is 12 percent more than in 2018.
