Vice Chancellor: Governor and Chancellor of Universities in Odisha Professor Ganeshi Lal today appointed Prof. Govind J. Chakrapani and Prof. Hari Hara Hota as Vice Chancellors of Berhampur University and Jagannath Sanskrit Vishvavidyalaya, Puri respectively. In exercise of the powers conferred by Odisha Universities Act, 1989, the Chancellor appointed Prof Chakrapani and Prof Hota as Vice Chancellors for three years with effect from the date they assume office as such or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Prof. Govind J. Chakrapani is presently serving as Professor in Department of Earth Sciences, IIT, Roorkee. After completing his M.Sc in Applied Geology in IIT, Mumbai, he has both his M.Phil in Environmental Sciences in 1988 and PhD from JNU, New Delhi in Environmental Geosciences in 1991.
Prof Chakrapani did his Post Doctoral in Marine Sciences from the University of Delaware, the USA in 1991-92. He has 27 years of teaching experience and also academic administrative experience of 23 years holding several posts and responsibilities.
Prof. Chakrapani has completed a training programme on the administration of University/Institution under LEAP (Leadership for Academicians Programme conducted by the Ministry of HRD. He has also served as Visiting Professor in universities and institutes abroad and has 78 publications to his credit out of this 17 are international.
Prof. Hari Hara Hota is presently serving as Professor and Chairman, PG Council in Shri Jagannath Sanskrit Visvavidyalalya (SJSV), Puri. He has both his Acharya (MA) and PhD from SJSV, Puri and later did MBA in IT from Punjab Technical University, Ludhiana. He has 30 years of teaching experience and long administrative experience in various capacities.
He was also Resource Person of several leading academic institutions and is credited with the introduction of M.Phil course for Jyotirvigyan and also designed and implemented the CBCS curriculum for PG Classes. Prof. Hota authored 18 books. He was also honoured in the national and international fora in the area of academic and professional expertise.
