Veteran actor Rohini Hattangadi, has been selected for this year’s prestigious ‘Vishnudas Bhave Puraskar,’ on behalf of Akhil Bhartiya Natya Vidhyamandir Committee (ABNVC), Sangli.
In a press conference on Saturday, Sharad Karake, ABNVC president, said that Hattangadi has selected, considering her long contribution while acting in Marathi, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil films, in TV serials and in drama (theatre) and as a playwriter.
The Puraskar will carry a cash award of Rs 25,000 along with a shawl, Shreephal and golden pelted ‘Manchinha’, he said. The award distribution function will be held on “Rangbhoomi Din” on November 5.
Hattangadi worked predominantly in Hindi and Marathi also acted in Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati. She was known for her roles in Agnipath, Ajib Dastan, Arth, Gandhi, Chakra and in Marathi plays including Akkal Dhavte Ghodyapudhe, Rutugandh, Ekach Pyala, Katha Kunachi Baths Kuna, Kaditari Kothetari, Gaongund, Khandi ACH Latin, Kasturi Mrug, Changuna among others.
Earlier, these awards were given to Bakgandharv, Acharya Atre, Mama Pendse, Ms Durga Khite, P L Deshpande, G D Madhukar, Prabhakar Panshikar, Vasant Kanitkar, Nilu Phule, Deelip Prabhalvkat, Amol Palekar, Vikram Gokhale, Mohan Joshi, Mohan Agashe, Karake added.
