Legendary mathematician Vashishtha Narayan Singh died at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) here this morning. He was around 77.
Mr Singh`s family members said that blood started oozing out from the mouth of great mathematician, who was suffering from schizophrenia this morning and he was immediately rushed to PMCH where doctors declared him brought dead.
Singh who had once challenged Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity was not keeping good health for the last few years. He was admitted to PMCH when his body`s sodium level had declined alarmingly but he was discharged from the hospital once he had started talking with people following administration of sodium dose.
Singh was born in Bihar`s Bhojpur district on April 2, 1942 and his parents were Lal Bahadur Singh and Lahaso Singh. He had completed his primary secondary education at Netarhat residential school. Later, he had also studied at prestigious Patna Science College.
During his studies at Patna Science College, Prof. John L Kailely had spotted his talent and took him to United States (US). Under the guidance of Kailey, Singh had completed his Ph.D. on ‘cycle vector space theory’ in 1969.
Later, he was appointed assistant professor in Washington University. He had also worked at National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of US.
