Ranjan Ghosh, writer-director of the recently released film ‘Ahaa Re…’, undoubtedly penned one of the best screenplays and executed it at par excellence.
It also is one of the most touchy love stories we have seen in the last five years. It is a simple story mounted with culinary conjunctions.
The story depicting not only the cooking of various cuisines from both of the Bengal but also depicts a subtle knitting of a platonic relation. Ranjan, who earlier made films like ‘Hridmajhare’ and ‘Rong Beronger Kori’, this time stepped out a bit further and hit the ball to the left chest of the audiences.
In a time when most of the films over 90 minutes seems exaggerated then Ranjan through his simple but well mounted script didn’t failed to keep his audiences engaged for 150 minutes. Ranjan presented a story which is somehow predictable but audience will love to stay glued with his characters. The story whereas leaving the message of communal harmony on the other hand is portraying the culinary differences between two Bengal.
Arifin Shuvoo just mesmerized with his modulation and his immense power to emote cut to cut. Genre wise it has been pretty unexplored as per his filmography but he nailed it really. Paran Bandopadhyay added the much needed salt in Ranjan’s dish while Amrita Chattopadhyay and Subhrosankha Das added the flavoured toppings.
Last but not the least, Rituparna Sengupta. She again successfully evinced that she still is the undisputed queen of T-town who remains misused most of the time. ‘Ahaa Re…’ is one of Ritu’s that kind of stunner which people could watch in a repeated way tirelessly.
‘Ahaa Re…’ is a feel good film with stunning visuals. Some tremendous shots have been taken by Hari Nair. Nair is that master who earlier worked in just a single Bengali movie and that too with Rituparna Sengupta in Rituparno Ghosh’s ‘Dahan’. Savvy have done a commendable job with music.
To sum up, ‘Ahaa Re…’ is a must watch family entertainer which will refresh the emotional quotient of any sensitive being. (UNI)
