As many as 16 candidates-filed their nomination papers today for the third phase of election to 6 Lok Sabha and 42 Assembly seats scheduled to be held in Odisha on April 23 next.
Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) sources here said while six candidates have filed their nominations for as many Lok Sabha seats 10 candidates filed their nomination for 42 Assembly seats.
So far 45 candidates—12 for Lok Sabha and 33 for Assembly seats have filed their nominations for the third phase of election in Odisha.
The six Lok Sabha seats going to poll in the third phase are Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Puri and Bhubaneswar.
The nomination for the third phase of the election would continue till April 4 and scrutiny would be held on April 5. The last date for withdrawal of candidature has been fixed on April 8 next.
Official sources here said so far 32951 people were detained u/s 107/116 of IPC and liquor worth more than Rs 2.24 crore and more than Rs 70.76 lakh were seized by the flying squad from different places of the state. (UNI)
