25 Fishermen missing after three trawlers drowned and another missing in Turbulent Bay of Bengal

At least 25 fishermen went missing after three trawlers sunk and another went missing while they were in deep sea fishing in the turbulent Bay of Bengal even as Indian Coast Guard and its Bangladesh counterpart have been on the search since Sunday, official sources said today.
Kakdwip Fishermen Association’s general secretary Bijon Maity said while the diesel-powered FB Dasabhuja, FB Babaji and FB Joyjogiraj have sunk FB Nayan has been missing since Saturday evening after they were caught in the storms as they were returning the shore of Kakdwip in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas.
He said altogether 61 fishermen were on board of four trawlers. Of them, 36 have been rescued by fellow fishermen.
Sundarbans Samudrik Sramik Union president Satinath Patra claimed that the Bangladesh Coast Guard has rescued some Indian fishing trawler from the possible mishap and towed them safely to Patuakhali bimambandar coast area in that country.
He said all the missing fishermen are the residents of Kakdwip.
The mishap happened on Saturday at around 1900 hours while they were returning from Haribhanga char under Bangladesh water areas.
Massive search operations were continued by the Indian Coast Guard and its Bangladesh counterpart and local fishermen and even rescue teams from West Bengal Police.
