Three ultras belonging to the CPI (Maoists) were killed and a jawan of the CRPF was martyred following an encounter between the two sides which took place under Bhelwaghati police station area of this district today.
Police sources said that jawans of the 7th battalion of the CRPF were conducting search operations in Dharpahari forest of Deori area when the encounter took place between the Maoists and the security personnel.
In the gun battle a jawan of the CRPF was martyred. However, realising that the security forces were closing on them the ultras fled from the spot which is located on the bordering areas of Jharkhand and Bihar.
During the search operation bodies of three Maoists was recovered from the spot along with arms which included AK 47, three magazines and pipe bombs. (UNI)
