Union Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday said the speed of constructing road per day will be increased from present 32 km to 40 km.
Addressing a press conference while throwing open a Roof Top Cafe on the the newly-built automated car parking in the Transport Bhawan here, Gadkari said,’In the country, 32 km roads are being constructed per day, but after assuming charge for the second time, I feel this work should gather momentum and everyday 40 km road should be getting constructed each day.’
Gadkari said when he took charge of the Transport and Highways Ministry, a12 or 13 km road per day were being getting constructed. The minister said after assuming the charge he sped up the whole process and increased it to 32 km per day.
The Union Minister also told reporters that same measurement technique is being used in measuring the roads which was being used in the time of UPA regime.
“It is an international measurement technique which was used before 2014,” Gadkari added.
