INS Chilka: Indian Navy’s premier ab initio training establishment celebrated the completion of 41 years of yeoman service to the Navy and the nation on 20 – 21 Feb 21. Since its commissioning on 21 Feb 1980, this alma mater of sailors has evolved in leaps and bounds keeping abreast with latest training methodologies and technological developments.
The unit had conducted various activities in the build up to its anniversary which witnessed exuberant participation from all the members of the unit. The entire Station community comprising Service Personnel, DSC, MES and Defence civilians along with their families actively and wholeheartedly participated in Walkathon flagged off by the Commanding Officer, Commodore NP Pradeep on 20 Feb 21. Various sports activities were organised for the ladies and children of the station on 20 – 21 Feb 21 and prizes were distributed to all winners. The customary Cake Cutting Ceremony was held on 21 Feb 21 with the youngest sailor of the unit joining the Commanding Officer in cutting the anniversary cake prior commencement of the Station Barakhana.
