A soldier and murder accused died in custody in Bangaluru

A 53-year-old man, a retired soldier, who was arrested on charges of allegedly murdering his wife, died while he was in police custody on Monday.
Official sources said police had arrested Krishnamurthy on the charges of murdering his wife Meghala Devi (50) on November 20 and he had also confessed to have murdered his wife over family dispute. He had informed the police that he threw the weapon used for the murder near Kalkare on the outskirts of the city.
Then police took him to the spot to recover the weapon. While he was being taken to the spot, He collapsed while police were taking him. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but had died on the way to the hospital, DCP Rahul Kumar Shapurwada informed.
After retiring from Indian army the deceased had been working in a private firm as lift operator. As he died while being in police custody, Additional Commissioner of police Seemanth Kumar Singh has entrusted the case to CID.
