All 112 Wuhan evacuees test negative for COVID-19

Zero local COVID-19 cases in China for 2nd day

New Delhi: The 112 people who were evacuated from Wuhan in China and kept in quarantine at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) facility in Chhawla here have tested negative for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and they will start leaving the facility on Friday, officials said.

The ITBP officials said that all Wuhan returnees, including 36 foreign nationals have tested negative at the ITBP quarantine Facility after 14 days of quarantine.

According to the officials, Friday is the 16th day of their quarantine and they will start leaving the facility from 11 a.m. onwards.

He further said that Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai along with Director General of ITBP S.S. Deswal will meet the group at the facility.

India witnessed its first coronavirus death when Karnataka Health Minister B. Sriramulu on Thursday confirmed that a 76-year-old man from Kalaburagi in the state’s northern region died of Covid-19.

The Union Health Ministry has confirmed 76 coronavirus cases so far.
