Srinagar: Indian Army and Indian Air Force (IAF) will work in close coordination with the J&K administration to fight coronavirus in the Union Territory.
As part of the many proactive measures undertaken, specialised sterilisation chemicals are being used to sanitise and disinfect public places in the city.
Due to the spell of bad weather and unpredictability of the road links to the Valley, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) had approached the Army for their help in providing assistance to tranship the required chemical.
The Army along with the IAF airlifted 1,200 kg of the specialised sterilisation chemicals from Delhi to Srinagar. Two Dornier aircrafts of the IAF were pressed into service immediately for the airlift.
The prompt response in organising the airlift by the Army and the IAF, ensured that the critical chemicals as required by the SMC could be made available well in time.
The joint efforts of all stakeholders guaranteed that the SMC will be well equipped to keep the people in Kashmir safe and effectively combat the ever increasing threat of the virus reaching the Valley.
