Arrangements being made for hassle free celebration of Eid in J&K

Contrary to reports in a section of western media, the situation is normal in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP and the Jammu and Kashmir government have said special and elaborate arrangements have been made for the safe and hassle free celebration of Eid and ensuring of normalcy. The Jammu and Kashmir government has made sufficient stocking of essential items and items such as wheat has been stocked to suffice for 65 days, rice for 55 days, mutton for 17 days and poultry for about one month, a party source said here.

The J&K government has also also said that Kerosene Oil LPG and High Speed Diesel have been stocked for four weeks to 35 days. “Ration Ghats in every district have started functioning to supply ration to the general public. Out of 3,697 Ration Ghats in Kashmir Division, 3,557 ration Ghats have been made operational to provide ration to the general public. Special and elaborate arrangements have been made for the safe and hassle free return of Hajis from Saudi Arabia, for which flights will commence on 18th of August. All Deputy Commissioners have nominated their Nodal Officers who will be stationed at the Airports from August 18, 2019 for the convenience of the Haji Sahiban,” the J&K government has said. Special Help Line desks will be established at Airport and Hajj House for the convenience of Hajis. Treasuries and Banks are being made functional during this period even on holidays. “ATMs are functioning smoothly, and it has been ensured that the cash is replenished on regular basis and people are drawing cash as and when required. “Sources also said the salary of all the employees and wages of casual land others are being released and pension and gratuity payments are also being released.

The J&K government said the delivery of vegetables, LPG, Poultry and eggs has been ensured at the door steps through mobile vans. About 2.5 lakhs sheep are available for public for Eid-ul-Azha sacrifice and in the rest of the districts, the District Magistrates have made elaborate arrangements for the forthcoming Eid-ul-Azha. Sources quoting J&K officials further said all the health institutions at primary, secondary and tertiary level are functioning fully with doctors and Para Medical Staff.

Moreover, Laison Officers have been activated through Resident Commissioner, New Delhi in various places including Aligarh and New Delhi, to facilitate students of J&K for communicating with their families as well as celebration of the Eid Festival. On Saturday also the ruling BJP and the Jammu and Kashmir government have said that situation is “calm” and that the people should not believe in the “motivated news regarding firing incidents”. “The situation is calm, people are cooperative and restrictions are being relaxed,” a BJP source has said in New Delhi. “No firing incident has taken place in Kashmir over last six days,” a source has said on Saturday evening adding the police have not fired a single bullet in last six days. (UNI)
