The Legislative assembly on Friday unanimously adopted a resolution affirming that rice and not cash would be provided to poor people here. Moving the resolution, Chief Minister V Narayanasamy said in the midst of several obstacles, the government continued to provide free rice to the people. But later, there was direction from Lt Governor Kiran Bedi to remit the cash in the bank account of the beneficiaries.
