Assembly polls: Shah appoints Union Ministers, senior leaders on crucial posts

Aiming for impressive show in ensuing polls in Delhi, Maharashtra, Haryana and Jharkhand Assemblies, BJP chief Amit Shah on Friday assigned crucial election-related responsibilities to Union Ministers, State Ministers by making them poll incharges and co-incharge.

All the responsibilities assigned will come into force with immediate effect.

In Maharashtra, BJP National General Secretary Bhupendra Yadav has been made in charge for election, Uttar pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and former Karnataka MLA Lakshman Savdi will be co incharges. Also, State organisational in charge Saroj Pandey has been made national General Secretary with immediate effect.

In the national Capital, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar has been made Election in charge, while Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai have been appointed as election co-in charges.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has been made Election in charge for Haryana and Uttar Pradesh Minister Bhupendra Singh has been made Election co-in charge. In Jharkhand, BJP national vice-president Om Prakash Mathur has been appointed as Election incharge, while Bihar Minister Nand Kishor Yadav has been made Election co-in charge. In Delhi polls are due by February; in three other states, polls are expected later this year.
