In a bid to give additional boost to entrepreneurship in Bengal, the State Science & Technology and Biotechnology Department has recently signed two memoranda of understanding (MoU) with the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT).
The memorandums call for the introduction of two courses – MTech on geoinformatics and postgraduate (PG) diploma on intellectual property rights (IPR) and technology business management. Besides getting jobs in companies, these courses will equip students with skills in high demand now, which will help them to set up start-ups.
Geoinformatics or spatial science is a tool science for many fields, from geology to civil engineering to public health planning to several others. The diploma course will help entrepreneurs become self-dependent about using intellectual property rights, especially those related to technology in business. (UNI)
