Bharat Ke Veer is a fund raising initiative by the Union home ministry on behalf of members of the Indian Armed Forces.
Launched by home minister Rajnath Singh, the initiative allows donations of up to Rs.15 lakh to an individual braveheart’s account or donations to the “Bharat Ke Veer” corpus. One can donate directly to the individual braveheart’s account or to the Bharat Ke Veer corpus.
The cap of Rs.15 has been envisaged for each bravehearts to ensure maximum coverage. A donor will be alerted if the amount exceeds Rs.15 lakh so that he can choose to decrease the contribution or divert part of it to another braveheart or the corpus.
Bharat Ke Veer corpus will be managed by a committee made up of persons of repute and senior government officials, in equal number, who would decide to disburse the fund equitably to the families of brevehearts on need basis.
The amount so donated will be credited to the account of next of kin of those of Central Armed Police Force (all seven) or National Disaster Response Force personnel.
A donation of Rs.1,500,000 have been achieved through Bharat Ke Veer funding raising for both the CRPF jawans from Odisha who were among the 40 killed in Pulwama in Kashmir on February 14. Donor can still donate to their accounts or the Bharat ke Veer corpus.
