Bihar MLA Anant Singh surrenders in Saket court

Independent MLA from Bihar Anant Singh on Friday surrendered before Saket court here following the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, 22 live cartridges and two bombs from his ancestral house in Mokama on Friday. An FIR was registered against him under the newly amended Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

“He was in Delhi since August 18. Warrant was issued on August 20. He has surrendered today,” a close relative of Mr Singh told UNI. Once the procedures get completed, the Delhi Police will take him to Barh Court in Bihar to produce him for further process. The police had arrested his close aide Chuttan alias Sunil Singh, an accused in an attempt to murder case who was present at the legislator’s residence.

Once close to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, he had contested election twice on JDU’s symbol and won. He had alleged that he was being falsely framed in the case at the behest of JD(U) MP from Munger Lallan Singh against whom his wife Neelam Devi contested in the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls.

On Tuesday, the Barh court had rejected the anticipatory bail pleas of Anant Singh and his two other supporters including Ranbir Yadav and Lallu Mukhiya in connection with a viral audio clip in which he was heard dealing a murder plan with a shooter recently. (UNI)
