BJD candidate for Patkura assembly seat violates MCC by distributing relief to cyclone-hit people- Ray

Kendrapara, May 13 (UNI) The Election agent of Bijaya Mohapatra, BJP candidate for Patkura Assembly seat in Odisha has alleged violation of the model code of conduct by ruling BJD candidate Sabitri Agarwal. In a petition submitted before the Returning Officer of the Patkura Assembly seat, which has been postponed by the Election Commission in the wake of cyclone Fani, Sudhanshu Sekhar Ray, alleged a clear violation MCC by BJD candidate Sabitri Agrawalla. He alleged that Ms Agarwal and Derabis BDO Gopabandhu Bhosagar, have distributed relief rice and Rs 500 assistance on May 10 at Nahanga Primary Krushi S.C.S limited( a dealer point of Derabish block) to influence the voters. The agent had submitted photographs in this regard and said such act of the BJD candidate and government officials clearly violated the Model code of conduct amounting to bribery which is an offence and is punishable under Section 170(E),171(F) of IPC, Mr Ray demanded before the Returning officer stringent legal action be initiated against the BJD candidate and the government official for intentionally violating the model code of conduct and committing offences under IPC and Representation of People Act 1950.
He also brought the alleged matter to the notice of the Observer of the election in Kendrapara district, Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha and chief Election Commission of India.
