Former minister and senior BJD leader Raghunath Mohanty today resigned as the Chairman of Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation (OLIC).
Mohanty arrived at BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik’s residence this morning and submitted his resignation.
“I have quit due to personal reasons. Contesting an election or not is subject to approval from the party chief. I have no say there, said the Balasore strongman.
Upon being quizzed whether he is considering resigning from the party altogether, Mohanty cryptically said, “that would be the last solution”.
In his response to contest from his home constituency Basta, Mohanty maintained it that the decision of giving him a ticket to fight poll solely rests with the party supremo.
It may be mentioned here that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had appointed Mohanty as the Chairman of OLIC on May 24 last year and had been accorded the rank of a Cabinet Minister. He was inducted back in the party after a long hiatus following the Barsa Swony dowry torture allegations against him.
