Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik on Friday accused BJP led NDA government at the center trying to sell off the Chilika Lake in the state. “The Central government was conspiring to damage the ecosystem of Chilika. It could have affected thousands of fishermen who depend on the lake for their livelihood. Patnaik’s statement was an alleged reference to the center’s plan of setting up a water aerodrome over the lake. Besides that there is a looming fear that the project of such type shall adversely affect the sensitivity of this unique lake known for its vast eco-diversity and the estuarine character being a home to vast pool of flora and faunas.
