BJP demands initiation of NRC in Telangana

Telangana unit of Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday demanded initiation of National Register of Citizens (NRC).

In a statement here, BJP state Chief Spokesperson K Krishna Sagar Rao said that there is a steady growth of illegal immigrants into the state in general and Hyderabad in specific in the guise of refugees. The official numbers are quite contrary to the actual numbers on the ground.

BJP considers this trend is growing and illegal immigrants are moving into Telangana from many borderline states, finding the local environment conducive for their survival. Telangana government in political connivance with AIMIM is looking the other way, with full knowledge of this dangerous trend.

Telangana police has a record of over 5000 illegal Rohingyas in the state, while the real numbers seem to be running into lakhs. These illegals immigrants are being used by AIMIM in variety of ways apart from using them as illegal voters during elections.

BJP considers this illegal immigrants issue as a ‘ticking time bomb’ and can have very dangerous consequences for communal harmony, peace and stable law and order in the state.

As the core purpose of any NRC initiation like in Assam is to ensure no illegal immigrants become citizens of India fraudulently, he said it is imperative that it should be applied to Telangana state too. This should be taken up in the larger interest of the state and the country,  Rao said.

BJP Telangana unit will formally appeal to and brief Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the relevance of this demand, the statement added.(UNI)
