BJP has indulged in anti-democratic move to destabilise the constitutionally formed government in Karnataka: Venugopal

AICC General Secretary in-charge of party affairs in Karnataka K C Venugopal today squarely blamed Bharatiya Janata Party (BSP) for the crisis in the coalition government in Karnataka, alleging that it has indulged in anti-democratic moves to destabilise the democratically formed State government.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, he said that the BJP, after Lok Sabha election has indulged in trying to destabilise non-BJP governments in the country including West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and now has come to Karnataka.

“BJP is utilising central agencies including Enforcement Directorate, CBI, IT to threaten Ministers and MLAs and forcing them to resign. This party was also offering money and Ministers’ post to some of them. This is the sixth attempt in Karnataka by the BJP since Coalition government came in to power last year. But this time also they will fail as all the 21 Congress Ministers have voluntarily tendered their resignation giving free hand to the party high command to take decision needed to strengthen the party. This shows how much united they are and they have proven that they are ready to sacrifice anything in the interests of the party.”

Venugopal said “local BJP leaders even engaged chartered flight to shift the dissatisfied MLAs to Mumbai fearing that they may change their mind and withdraw their resignation. But whatever crisis has arisen because of BJP’s new drama, Congress will prove that the party is strong and united. Reshuffling will take place shortly and I am confident that all the disgruntled MLAs who have tendered their resignation will withdraw and join hands in strengthening the party”.
