BJP leader demands CBI probe in Bofors deal

Amidst ongoing debate over Rafale deal controversy, BJP leader and senior advocate Ajay Aggarwal has written to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director Rishi Kumar Shukla demanding a further investigation in the Bofors scam.

Sources said that in his letter to the CBI director, the BJP leader said, “I have written to CBI Director, requesting that a further investigation in Bofors scam be initiated as sson as possible.’

“Michael Hershman, one of the private investigators in this scam told a private news channel that he has a lot to say in the case,” he added.

In his letter, Mr Aggarwal said,”Mr Michael also claimed that he was engaged by VP Singh, the then Finance Minister to investigate the case. During the probe, he found that some kickbacks were paid in some accounts.’

Mr Aggarwal said that if Michael is called to testify, he can make a lot of disclosures in the case.

The BJP leader has also levelled serious charges against former CBI direcotr Alok Verma. He claimed that Verma attempted to delay the matter at the behest of Mr Rahul Gandhi. Mr Aggarwal demanded filing of a case against Verma and Mr gandhi in this case.

Earlier in January, the Supreme Court had asked the locus standi of Ajay Aggarwal, in filing an appeal in the Bofors case.

The court also said that it would be against criminal jurisprudence to permit a third party who is not connected to the case.
