BJP leader Rakesh Singh, accused of some criminal cases including attack on policemen, has been arrested immediately after his arrival at Dum Dum airport from New Delhi midnight last night.
However, Rakesh Kumar Singh, a former Kolkata Congress Committee general secretary who joined the BJP on March 11 last, alleged that his arrest was related to doing saffron politics. He had joined the BJP in presence of Kailash Vijayvargiya and Mukul Roy in New Delhi.
During the time of arrest he had a scuffle with the policemen from Watgunj police station, who were on civil dress.
Singh has been accused of abducting two policemen and detained them before beating them up on May 18, a day before the last phase poll on May 19,
